Pnina Weiss DMD is an X-linked recessive associated with mutations in the dystrophin gene. Progressive respiratory muscle weakness resulting in respiratory failure and cardiomyopathy are the major causes of morbidity and mortality. Mechanical ventilation, aggressive airway clearance, and glucocorticoid therapy have increased survival into the third decade.
