Lemborexant and Daridorexant for the Treatment of Insomnia: an Indirect Comparison Using Number Needed to Treat, Number Needed to Harm, and Likelihood to Be Helped or Harmed

Lemborexant and Daridorexant for the Treatment of Insomnia: an Indirect Comparison Using Number Needed to Treat, Number Needed to Harm, and Likelihood to Be Helped or Harmed

Source : https://www.psychiatrist.com/jcp/lemborexant-daridorexant-treatment-insomnia-indirect-comparison-using-nnt-nnh-lhh/

This study examined whether differences existed between lemborexant and daridorexant in number needed to treat (NNT), number needed to harm (NNH), and likelihood to be helped or harmed (LHH) in...

In phase 3 trials, the benefit-risk ratios for both lemborexant and daridorexant were favorable as measured by number needed to treat, number needed to harm, and likelihood to be helped or harmed. Indirect comparisons of lemborexant with daridorexant suggest an efficacy advantage for lemborexant and a tolerability advantage for daridorexant.

Frequency of Orthostatic Hypotension in Isolated REM Sleep Behavior Disorder: The North American Prodromal Synucleinopathy Cohort

Frequency of Orthostatic Hypotension in Isolated REM Sleep Behavior Disorder: The North American Prodromal Synucleinopathy Cohort

Source : https://n.neurology.org/content/early/2023/10/19/WNL.0000000000207883

Background and Objectives. Although orthostatic hypotension (OH) can be an early feature of autonomic dysfunction in isolated rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (iRBD), no large-scale studies have examined the...

Researchers prospectively evaluated the frequency of orthostatic hypotension (OH) in a large multicenter isolated rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (iRBD) cohort. Compared with iRBD participants without OH, those with OH were older, reported older age of RBD symptom onset, and had worse olfaction.

Altered Sleep Micro-Architecture and Cognitive Impairment in Patients With Temporal Lobe Epilepsy

Altered Sleep Micro-Architecture and Cognitive Impairment in Patients With Temporal Lobe Epilepsy

Source : https://n.neurology.org/content/early/2023/10/17/WNL.0000000000207942

Objectives: To investigate the spatiotemporal characteristics of sleep waveforms in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and examine their association with cognition. Methods: In this retrospective, cross-sectional study, we examined overnight EEG...

Researchers investigated the spatiotemporal characteristics of sleep waveforms in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and examine their association with cognition. They found a fundamental alteration of sleep micro-architecture in TLE, characterized by a reduction in spindle density and spindle-SO coupling, and these changes may contribute to...

Patient-Level Factors Associated With the Self-Report of Trouble Sleeping to Healthcare Providers in Adults at High Risk for Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Patient-Level Factors Associated With the Self-Report of Trouble Sleeping to Healthcare Providers in Adults at High Risk for Obstructive Sleep Apnea

In adults at risk for obstructive sleep apnea, it is unclear what patient-level factors and symptoms may influence communication with healthcare provi...

Differences in sex, race, education, comorbidities, and obstructive sleep apnea-related symptoms exist between adults at high risk for obstructive sleep apnea who have and have not reported trouble sleeping to an healthcare provider. Men, minorities, and persons with lower educational attainment may be less likely to report trouble sleeping.

The Role of Cardiovascular Health and Vascular Events in the Relationship Between Excessive Daytime Sleepiness and Dementia Risk

The Role of Cardiovascular Health and Vascular Events in the Relationship Between Excessive Daytime Sleepiness and Dementia Risk

Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37822116/

Many studies suggest a relationship between excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) and dementia incidence, but the underlying mechanisms remain uncertain. The study aimed to investigate the role of cardiovascular burden in...

These findings confirm that EDS may be implicated in the development of dementia and indicate a weaker than expected role of cardiovascular burden in the relationship between EDS and DVC.
